Some are obvious, like Google Translate. Other apps focus on where I stay: HotelWorld, booking.com, AirBnB (to a lesser extent), iOverlander, Trivago.<\/p>\n<p>I lean on <a href=\"https:\/\/osmand.net\/\">OSMAnd+<\/a> (Open Street Map)\u2014 my mapping program of choice\u2014the hardest. It works off-line. It manages the GPS chip (keeping the GPS off when I&#8217;m not using it. It includes POI (point-of-information), such as campgrounds, hostels, ATMs, <a href=\"\/index.php\/150911-not-going-to-need-a-bigger-boat\/\">and the occasional wayward submarine<\/a>. I can build custom POI overlays (such as all campgrounds and hostels, or all castles and historical sites). I can overlay GPX tracks (like the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurovelo.com\">EuroVelo<\/a> routes).<\/p>\n<p>Today I found a new plugin for OSMAnd- <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclosm.org\/\">CyclOSM<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cyclosm\/cyclosm-cartocss-style\/\">CyclOSM<\/a> is a bicycle-oriented map built on top of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org\/\">OpenStreetMap, <\/a>\u00a0aiming to provide a practical map for cyclists.\u00a0The same map also lets you visualize main bicycle touring routes as well as essential POIs when touring (emergency services, shelters, tourism, shops).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">CyclOSM offers three different map styles:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0; margin-left: 1em;\">\n<li>The <strong>default CyclOSM<\/strong> style, fit for most applications and map purposes;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>CyclOSM live<\/strong> style, fit for OpenStreetMap contributors (tiles are always minute updated) and available only at <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclosm.org\/\">cyclosm.org<\/a> and in contributions tools;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>CyclOSM lite<\/strong> variant, meant to be used as an overlay map to turn any map style into a bike map.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words, you can overlay CyclOSM on top of my usual mapping setup, providing an easy-to-use display of local cycling routes and paths.
