Enough being enough, I extended my stay in Altamura. A cold, rainy, blustery day, I made only a few forays out. The first for cold meds, and also a 13th century church just down the street.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irelandbybicycle.com\/rickpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/rps20190527_120619-1206722432.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" title=\"rps20190527_120619-1206722432.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.irelandbybicycle.com\/rickpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/rps20190527_120619-1206722432.jpg\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second (and technically third, fourth, and fifth) time I headed to the supermarket. The first time I realized I&#8217;d left my wallet behind. Then I just missed the lunch window. Italians typically work\u00a0Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, take a two-hour lunch and then work from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The next time no idea why they were still closed. Persistence paid off, and I&#8217;m well-stocked now.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow likely a train to Brindisi. That should get me out from under the weather. Bari would be a better ferry point, but my wife was born in Brindisi.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know how many murders I&#8217;ve seen today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I woke to rain and a hacking cough.
