7:45 am Depart campground<\/p>\n

8:15 am Finish dropping 250 m to elevation of 220 m.  Begin to climb.<\/p>\n

10:45 am Average speed for the day 9 kph. Reach pass at 710 m. Total distance 28 km.<\/p>\n

11:45 am Reach 52 km.<\/p>\n

The rest of the day I continued downhill, significantly slowed in the outskirts of Prato to navigate my way into Florence on smaller roads.<\/p>\n

3:15 pm Arrive Florence. Work my way across and up Florence.<\/p>\n

3:45 pm Reach campground in Florence recommend by other cyclists next to “scenic overlook.” Temporarily closed.<\/p>\n

4:00 pm Hostel reserved via city Wi-Fi.<\/p>\n

4:30 pm Settle into hostel.<\/p>\n

5:00 pm Explore city.<\/p>\n

I almost didn’t end up in Florence because I didn’t realize Firenze and Florence were the same place. I will forever remember Florence as the city under renovation. Almost every historical building covered in part by scaffolding. Oh, and the city of Chinese wedding photos; couples everywhere having their wedding photos taken.<\/p>\n
